Our panel of judges consists of industry experts, selected to ensure those awarded in each category are truly the best. With their combination of in-depth knowledge of the UK digital market and entrepreneurial experience, they know the ingredients for award-winning blogs.

Check out profiles of the judges who will be deciding the fate of our bloggers and vloggers during the evening.

Andrew Smith

Andrew has significant experience developed over a decade of working in politics and public affairs. He provides communications and media support for a range of international businesses, with a specialist focus on the financial services and transport sectors.

andrew-smith-blog-awards-judgeAndrew began working for the Conservative Party as policy adviser, before moving into public affairs. He worked in house for EEF Britain’s leading manufacturers’ organisation and then moved to a public affairs agency. He has been an Associate Director at Weber Shandwick for two years.

He remains active in politics and is an elected Councillor in the City of Westminster.

Andy Oakes

Andy Oakes is a media professional with over twenty years’ experience in international B2B media markets. He is a well-known figure in the UK digital scene, a regular panellist and moderator at events as well as awards host and judge.

andy-oakes-blog-awards-judgeAndy is currently Managing Director and Head of Content at The Drum, Europe’s biggest media, marketing and advertising platform with office in London, Glasgow, New York and Singapore. Andy was The Drum’s first London based employee back in 2012.

Prior to The Drum, Andy was Managing Director of Bluestripe Media, a specialist media consultancy, Publisher of New Media Age and Global Head of Media Solutions at Informa Telecoms.
Andy is a former rugby player, enthusiastic rather than talented cyclist and dreadful cricketer. He is also father to two teenage children.

Matthew Rock

Matthew Rock is content development director at Think, where he leads the editorial teams of B2B titles, and was instrumental in the launch of CIPR’s Influence magazine in 2016.

matthew-rock-blog-awards-judgeMatthew has been a business journalist and editor for the past 26 years, and was a founder-editor of Real Business, the UK’s first magazine for entrepreneurs. He’s written a column about entrepreneurship for City AM, a book about the role of entrepreneurship in regenerating British seaside towns, and has been recognised for his journalism at the Santander Media Awards.

He’s launched, judged, hosted and launched many awards programmes, including the CBI’s Growing Business Awards, First Women Awards and the Women of the Future Awards.

Jo Middleton

Jo Middleton is the author of the hugely popular parenting and lifestyle blog Slummy Single Mummy. Slummy Single Mummy began life back in 2009, when Jo was a single parent to her two daughters, Bee and Belle, then aged 14 and 7. Jo’s honest, witty voice quickly gained her a loyal following, and in 2010, less than a year after she began writing, she won her first award – Best New Blog in the MADS blog awards.

jo-middleton-blog-awards-judgeSlummy Single Mummy is a great example of how it’s possible to turn your blog into a commercial venture without losing your individual style.
Last year Slummy Single Mummy won the awards for Best UK Parenting Blog and Best UK Blog at the inaugural Vuelio Blog Awards.

Mital Patel

mital-patel-blog-awards-judgeMital is Vuelio’s resident Media Research Team Leader and is responsible for the UK’s market leading blogger database. She joined Vuelio in 2012 as an internet researcher, where she began to learn about the Blogging industry and build relationship with UK bloggers.

She is currently managing the Vuelio Top 10, a weekly ranking of the top ten blogs in various industries, ranging from Fashion to Gadgets.

Working day in and out with the blogosphere, Mital definitely knows what makes a great blog!
