Magazines: the decline of print and the rise of digital

The circulation and readership figures of magazines are vital for their advertisers and ultimately their survival. ‘Digital dimes’ do not currently add up to ‘print dollars’ but the overheads of running a digital publication are significantly lower and as such there has been a huge increase in recent years.

Using information on publications listed in the CisionPoint media database, we can accurately map the decline of print and the rise of digital for magazines in the UK in the last 5 years.

Digital titles have increased 44% compared with print’s 11% decline, a clear and indicative example of the two medium’s opposing fortunes.
