Interior Design Blogs UK Top 10
This ranking was last updated 12/04/2023.
Vuelio uses a proprietary algorithm to create these rankings, based on topic-related content in blogs on its system – you can read more about the process here. Our research team actively seeks out new blogs and bloggers for inclusion, but if you think we’ve missed someone, please get in touch to let us know.
Fans of interior design are still mad about writer and journalist Kate Watson-Smyth’s blog Mad About The House, which stays at the top of this ranking for another year. Having written for publications like the Financial Times and The Independent, Kate’s own house has also featured in Living Etc, HeartHome, and even The Wall Street Journal. Want to dupe her style or find your own ideal living situation? Check out the blog and for extra content, listen to her podcast with fellow expert Sophie Robinson, The Great Indoors .
Moving up a spot is Jen Stanbrook’s Love Chic Living, which shares how to create chic surroundings, whatever your budget. Sections on the blog are dedicated to specific Rooms (including Home Office and Loft Conversion), Reviews, Interiors, Outdoors and Property. Recent content includes ideas for naming a holiday home, tips on the best storage solutions for new home owners who have racked up too many possessions over the years, and even which colours go with sage green.
Also moving up the ranking is Little Big Bell, where Geraldine Tan shares her ‘passion for colour, design, and decorating’. Her Interiors section covers every room you could need help with, while the Design content can lend a hand with furniture, lighting, storage, DIY, and more. Sick of staring at the walls? This blog also has a handy Out and About section for when need to get outside – read up on Geraldine’s picks for Eating Out, Travel & Hotels and Events to book.
4. Cate St Hill
Another blog moving up our ranking – from 7 to 4 – is from blogger, writer, stylist, and consultant Cate St Hill. Since launching her blog in 2011, Cate has kept her readership up-to-date with changing interiors trends ever since. If unliveable minimalism or store-front display-style interiors are not for you (and who really finds them liveable, if we’re being honest), find ‘simple design for everyday living’ here. Nab ideas for your interior in her Shop the Edit section and take a look around Cate’s own set up in Inside My Home.
Here’s a name you will recall from earlier in our ranking, as well as from plenty of TV interior shows including DIY SOS, Dream Home Makeovers, and the Great Interior Design Challenge. Having accrued a ‘tribe of colour lovers’ with her blog, Sophie offers Interiors, Lifestyle, and Rooms content as well as Videos. Luckily for those of us low on space, tiny rooms happen to be a trend right now – and Sophie knows how to make the most of small rooms and why the best things can come in small packages.
Moving from 9 to 6 this year is These Four Walls, where blogger Abi writes about ‘simple, relaxed living at home and beyond’. For those fed up with the four walls they’re faced with at the moment, Abi has home tours, advice and tips, interviews, reviews, and postcards from places she loves. Posts to read now: the best minimalist outdoor sofas and lounge chairs, scented candles to keep your inside space smelling as fresh as the air outdoors, and the newest design finds.
7. Fifi McGee
Picking out the right designs for you and decorating accordingly as a new renovator can be an incredibly stressful undertaking, and this blog doesn’t shy away from the practicalities. To invigorate your home and ‘stay sane in the process’, bloggers Fi and Neil are here to ‘prepare you for every step ahead… Call us the sherpas to your renovation Everest!’. Read on for ways to ‘reduce stress, prevent costs spiralling, and get a design that stuns’ when painting, shelving, upholstering and, most importantly, enjoying your home.
Another shepherd – or, rather, Sheppard – here to lead lost interior designers back to the right path is blogger Stacey Sheppard. ‘Rounding up the best in interior design today,’ the blog has pointers for all elements of the home. Read up on the best thermal curtains for saving money on your energy bills and dealing with the unpredictable UK summer ahead, identify air purifiers worth your £s, and learn how to look after interior plants, specifically, and keeping with the budget theme, a Chinese Money Plant (a key trend for interiors right now).
Do-It-Yourselfers (whether due to budget constraints, because of a passion for interiors, or both) need look no further – blogger Medina’s Grillo Designs has what you need. This IKEA-loving upcycling-junkie DIY-passionate home-décor-crazy momma and wife is here with tactics for stretching budgets to create the best spaces for living and working. Check out faux fireplace ideas, how to convert a box room into a nursery, cabinet hacks, bar cart makeovers, and how to make a jar herb garden for your kitchen.
Making a return to our Interior Design ranking is Luke Arthur Wells and his eponymous blog which aims to ‘ensure your home stays ahead of the curve’ by using innovative suppliers, materials, and products. Interior designer, stylist, and tastemaker Luke, alongside interior journalist and project manager Hugh Metcalf, regularly helps design new homes. Make the most of this expertise by reading recent posts on how to bring spring into the home, dipping into the limitless luxe trend and scenting your home.
