One day I created my Instagram page for fun sharing my outfits of the day but I also loved writing. At the time I was a University student and my course entailed a lot of journalism and PR related modules, so one day I decided to combine my interest in fashion and writing into a blog.

Where do you see your blog taking you in the years to come? What is your ultimate goal? I see my blog evolving into an online magazine. I want to be the first point of contact young ladies go to for all things fashion, beauty and lifestyle related. I’ve always been quite creative so the ultimate goal would be to create a successful clothing line, there is a lot missing in the world of fashion.

I would also really like to write a book! I think my love life has been quite interesting over the years, so I would love to share this with the world. It’s had a lot of influence on my blog especially, so I’m keen to explicitly share my stories with the world.

Fun fact: A couple of years ago I wrote a mini screenplay based on a real chapter of my love life, and I casted Alex Pettyfer as the male lead! (I’m cringing right now) A girl can dream right?

Since creating the blog, what brands have you worked with so far? I’ve been really lucky to work with wonderful brands such as Topshop, Pandora, Stella McCartney, Kurt Geiger, Boohoo, Superdrug, ASOS, Pretty Little Thing – the list goes on!

You started blogging in May 2015 and already have over 60,000 followers on Instagram. How have you built up your Instagram presence? One thing in particular I’ve realised is how essential it is to really build a relationship with your followers. I’ve noticed how much they appreciate when I reply to their comments and even some of their direct messages. It’s important to me to humble myself and show them I how much appreciate their support, so I always try my best to reply to as many of them as I can. Plus I think everyone would like a bit off sass in their lives.

What was your biggest highlight in 2016, and what can we expect from you this year? Over the summer of 2016 I did a mini music festival tour which was absolutely fantastic! Being able to attend festivals such as Bestival, El Dorado festival & Secret Garden Party whilst reporting live for renowned brands such as boohoo.com was incredibly humbling. I’m quite proud that I’ve turned something that I am so passionate about into a career. It’s hard work but I’ve had so much fun! It’s only April and I’m literally bursting to reveal what I have planned for the upcoming months – especially summer, but I can’t just yet. All I will say for now is to prepare for plenty of more sass to come. Follow my snapchat ‘Radelaide20’ to spot the sneak peaks.

What has been your proudest achievement as a blogger? There’s several things I could list, especially from the past year. But one particular moment was when the head of PR for the London Lifestyle Awards got in touch because they had recognised me to be one of London’s top 5 lifestyle bloggers. That was pretty amazing.

How do you measure the success of your blog? I base my success on the goals I have set and when/how long it took me to achieve those goals. It’s not a race to me, I always aim to keep everything I do as authentic as possible. When I achieve one goal that’s great! But I feel it’s really a success when that achievement turns into a plural. I don’t ever want to become complacent!

I believe success is setting a goal and accomplishing it. Every word I write on my blog means a lot to me, and I always want readers to genuinely feel something when they read my posts. Sassy isn’t just meant to be a cool name I go by, I believe every woman has the right to feel like a Queen. I take pride in empowering young ladies with my mantra “Sassy, Savvy & Successful” The three S’.

What are your thoughts on media databases that connect bloggers with PRs, such as Vuelio? I think it’s fantastic! With the right strategy the blogging world holds endless opportunities, so databases allowing PR’s and bloggers to connect are certainly valuable.

How can PRs improve their strategy when building relationships with you? I’ve found that when PRs get in contact and take the time to meet and really get to know me has really been a great way to build a real and genuine relationship with them. For example, I now quite often get invited to meet with PRs over lunch/coffee or special meet and greet events with themselves and a brand their representing. I love meeting new people.

Is there any advice that you would like to share with any aspiring bloggers? Before jumping into blogging I’d suggest figuring out what you’re genuinely passionate about. Even if it means writing a list or brainstorming ideas do it! Once I realised I wanted to be a blogger I took the time to list what my passions were, who my target audience was and what I wanted my brand to be. As an influencer essentially people are going to associate you with something, so whatever that is you should make it worth remembering!

Stay Sassy, xoxo

Rudy Mutuma launched her fashion and lifestyle blog, Sassy Fashion Rudy in May 2015 to combine her love of fashion and writing.
