Monty is a large white-and-black Newfoundland dog which has inspired his owner Mark Sanders to start a blog and Facebook fan page written from the perspective of Monty Dogge. This year Monty and\u00a0Mark even\u00a0released\u00a0their own children\u2019s book based on his adventures,\u00a0entitled\u00a0I\u2019m Not a Pandacow<\/em>. Recently featured in our first Top 10 Pet Blog ranking<\/a>, we\u00a0spoke to Mark about\u00a0the blog<\/a>, how Monty Dogge literally stops traffic and some of the campaigns that they have worked on so far.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

How would you describe your blog?<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>
\n<\/span>Life\u00a0According to Monty\u00a0Dogge\u00a0is a\u00a0light-hearted\u00a0look at life through the eyes of a huge Newfoundland dog. He shares his insight and wisdom on things such as\u00a0\u2018hoomans\u2019\u00a0and how odd they can be, and other dog breeds,\u00a0particularly\u00a0\u2018Cockeyed Spangles\u2019\u00a0who he has to share a home with. He also enjoys interviewing famous people and asking them the questions others may fear to raise. He is a keen poet (he is in fact the self-styled poet,\u00a0Newfiette)\u00a0and regularly shares his prose with his admiring public.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Why did you start your blog?<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/strong>The blog was started originally\u00a0because\u00a0Monty was such a difficult puppy that it was felt he needed another way to express himself rather than trying to eat the postman or chew through walls. That is all behind him now and he is a pillar of the community,\u00a0as a mascot for the charity Shoulder\u00a0to Soldier\u00a0\u2013\u00a0having helped raise over \u00a330,000 for the Poppy appeal over recent years,\u00a0as well as his other charity work and his visits to schools and nursing homes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What\u2019s it like having a famous pet?<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/strong>I am known as Monty\u2019s dad and I regularly\u00a0have to\u00a0stop so that people can say hello. Most of our post\u00a0is addressed to Monty\u00a0Dogge\u00a0and photographers constantly want to move me out of the picture… Despite this I\u2019m not bitter…\u00a0honestly!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

How does your\u00a0Monty cope with the pressure?<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>
\n<\/span>Monty takes everything in his massive stride. He blogs live from Crufts every year and meets literally hundreds of people,\u00a0but nothing fazes him. He can sleep through a school assembly and recently,\u00a0at Edinburgh fringe,\u00a0all of\u00a0the performers sat down as everyone was crowding around Monty. He just turns to face the cameras and when he\u2019s had enough,\u00a0he has a nap.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What\u2019s your favourite pet product?<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/strong>His favourite pet product\u00a0has to\u00a0be Angell Petco fish treats.\u00a0Monty won\u2019t do so much as shake a paw but if you\u00a0have one of these in your hand,\u00a0well…\u00a0he\u2019s like puppy in your hands.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What\u2019s your favourite post?<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/strong>We have so many favourite posts,\u00a0but one I particularly remember is when Monty stopped the traffic in York City Centre,\u00a0as one by one twenty Japanese tourists posed with Monty, while the other 19 took photos \u2013\u00a0from\u00a0the middle of the main road in the city centre!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

How do you like to work with PRs?<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/strong>Monty loves working with anyone that makes him more famous. He\u00a0likes everyone,\u00a0especially if they have treats.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What one thing should PRs know about you?<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/strong>PRs should know that Monty can be a bit of a diva sometimes and if things are taking too long he will sleep, anywhere and anytime.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What\u2019s a memorable campaign you\u2019ve worked on?\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/strong>Our first children\u2019s book,\u00a0I\u2019m not a\u00a0<\/i>Pandacow<\/i>,\u00a0has been very memorable as we\u00a0had the opportunity to travel the country. However, according to Monty\u00a0Dogge,\u00a0Crufts\u00a0is always special.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span>I like\u00a0idreambooks\u00a0and often dig\u00a0into that when I have time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
