{"id":110007,"date":"2017-11-15T09:56:52","date_gmt":"2017-11-15T09:56:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/?p=110007"},"modified":"2017-11-15T09:56:52","modified_gmt":"2017-11-15T09:56:52","slug":"bored-of-diversity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/blog\/bored-of-diversity\/","title":{"rendered":"Bored of Diversity?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A new social media campaign has launched with the aim of raising awareness around diversity in the PR and communications industry.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Following comments in M&amp;C Saatchi\u2019s group chief creative officer Justin Tindall\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.campaignlive.co.uk\/article\/private-view-getting-boring-with-justin-tindall-chaka-sobhani\/1447303\" target=\"_blank\">Private View<\/a> that he\u2019s, \u2018Bored of diversity being prioritised over talent\u2019, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.taylorbennettfoundation.org\/\">Taylor Bennett Foundation<\/a> has launched a new campaign to hit back.<\/p>\n<p>Tindall <a href=\"https:\/\/www.campaignlive.co.uk\/article\/justin-tindall-bored-diversity-comment-wrong\/1447854\" target=\"_blank\">later apologised<\/a> for expressing the view in an unintentionally divisive way.<\/p>\n<p>The Taylor Bennett Foundation, a PR traineeship programme aimed at increasing diversity in the communications industry, has used the increased focus on diversity released a social media campaign titled \u2018Bored of diversity?\u2019. While the conversation around diversity is being held in the industry, it is often not followed up with much-needed action.<\/p>\n<p>The video made its debut last night at the Foundation\u2019s 10-year anniversary celebration, held at Edelman\u2019s UK headquarters.<\/p>\n<p>Sarah Stimson, chief executive of the Taylor Bennett Foundation, said: \u2018We are delighted that our current PR Trainees put this campaign together to tackle, what they felt to be, the industry\u2019s inadequate response to the lack of diversity. There is no room to bored of diversity \u2013 there is still such a long way to go to make the PR industry truly diverse.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>John Lehal, CEO of Public Affairs at Four Communications and vice chair of the Foundation, features in the video. He said: \u2018For too long, the communications industry has failed to reflect our society, and the recruitment and retention of a diverse workforce has not been a priority.\u00a0 I empathise with many of the sentiments expressed by the BAME practitioners in this video.
