As The Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/edition\/news\/may-criticises-trump-over-far-right-video-tweets-bp5ztxvn9\">reports<\/a>, this prompted criticism from Theresa May. Trump responded by tweeting that May should \u2018focus on the destructive Radical Islamic Terrorism that is taking place within the United Kingdom.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px\"><strong>UK \u2018close to Irish border deal\u2019<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nThe Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/edition\/news\/brexit-britain-close-to-irish-border-deal-pltcgrvcj\">claims <\/a>that the UK and EU are close to reaching a deal on the Irish border, which could lead to the offer of a two-year transition deal as soon as January. The British Government is understood to have committed to work towards \u2018avoiding regulatory divergence\u2019 in Ireland by devolving a package of powers to Northern Ireland.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px\"><strong>May outlines vision of the UK\u2019s role in the Middle East<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nThe Guardian <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/politics\/2017\/nov\/30\/theresa-may-to-outline-post-brexit-vision-for-uk-role-in-middle-east\">says <\/a>that May is to set out her vision for the UK\u2019s Middle Eastern role today, as she completes her trip to the region. She will speak about the UK\u2019s efforts against Islamic State and its wider help on economic and social reforms in a major speech in Jordan, in front of an audience which will include the country\u2019s prime minister, Hani al-Mulki.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px\"><strong>Boris Johnson: \u00a350bn Brexit bill worth paying<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nThe Daily Telegraph <a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/news\/2017\/11\/29\/boris-johnson-says-50bn-brexit-bill-would-worth-paying-get-ship\/\">reports <\/a>remarks by Boris Johnson, in which he said that a \u00a350bn Brexit bill would be worth paying to get \u2018the ship off the rocks\u2019. He described the potential agreement on the financial settlement as \u2018a fantastic opportunity now to get going\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px\"><strong>Government set to lose \u00a3800m on student loan sale<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nThe Government will lose \u00a3800m on its latest privatisation of student loans, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/726e3158-d522-11e7-8c9a-d9c0a5c8d5c9\">analysis <\/a>by the Financial Times. The paper warns that this raises \u2018questions over the valuation of tens of billions of pounds of remaining graduate debt.\u2019 The Government refused to comment.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px\"><strong>First year of school \u2018a waste of time\u2019 Ofsted warns<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nThe Daily Mail has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-5130769\/First-year-school-waste-time-says-Ofsted.html\">details <\/a>of a new report by Ofsted, warning that the first year of school is a \u2018false start\u2019 for many children because basic reading and maths are not being taught well. As a result, children face \u2018years of catching up\u2019, with a third not having \u2018essential knowledge\u2019 when they move into Year One, rising to nearly half of disadvantaged children.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px\"><strong>East Coast rail franchise \u2018bailout\u2019<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/uk-news\/2017\/nov\/29\/east-coast-rail-franchise-terminated-three-years-early-virgin-trains\">According <\/a>to The Guardian, Labour has accused the Government as using its new rail strategy as a \u2018a total smokescreen\u2019, as \u2018the East Coast franchise has failed again and the taxpayer will bail it out.\u2019 The strategy will lead to the termination of the franchise, held by Stagecoach and Virgin Group, three years early and its replacement by a new partnership model. Transport Secretary Chris Grayling has denied that the franchise is being bailed out.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px\"><strong>Plastic waste highlighted in Daily Mail campaign<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nThe Daily Mail dedicated its front page to its campaign to reduce plastic waste. It <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-5130731\/Beauty-spots-scarred-tonnes-plastic-rubbish.html\">announced <\/a>that the volume of rubbish found on the country\u2019s coasts had risen by 10% in the last year according to the Marine Conservation Society, whilst Iceland and the Co-op have joined calls for a deposit and return scheme for disposable bottles. The paper adds that there are \u2018signs\u2019 that Waitrose and Marks and Spencer are also \u2018coming round to the idea\u2019.
