A DUP source <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/news\/5082912\/prime-minister-theresa-mays-belfast-brexit-divorce-bill\/\" target=\"_blank\">told<\/a> The Sun that there would be no deal on the Irish border this week, saying that \u2018This is a battle of who blinks first, and we\u2019ve cut off our eyelids.\u2019 The Daily Telegraph <a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/news\/2017\/12\/06\/jean-claude-juncker-fears-theresa-mays-government-will-collapse\/\" target=\"_blank\">adds<\/a> that European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker has indicated his willingness to continue discussions into next week.<br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Brexit: Davis admits impact assessments don\u2019t exist<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\nThe Financial Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/8ca38822-da75-11e7-a039-c64b1c09b482\" target=\"_blank\">reports<\/a> that David Davis has avoided being censured for alleged contempt of parliament by the Brexit select committee, after admitting that \u2018There\u2019s no sort of systemic impact assessment.\u2019 Critics have suggested that this contradicts statements made by him in the past. Liberal Democrat MP Wera Hobhouse said \u2018Whether it is through incompetence or insincerity, David Davis has been misleading parliament from the start.\u2019<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><strong>Brexit: Article 50 extension amendment attracts Conservative rebels\u2019 support<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nThe Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/edition\/news\/give-mps-power-to-extend-brexit-negotiations-demand-tory-rebels-2bz7fx9th\" target=\"_blank\">says<\/a> that as many as 24 Tory MPs are prepared to rebel against the Government next week, in support of an amendment to the EU Withdrawal Bill, allowing MPs to seek an extension to Article 50 negotiations if there is no satisfactory trade agreement by March 2019. Tory MP Anna Soubry and Labour MP Chukka Umunna have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/edition\/news\/put-the-british-people-back-in-charge-of-leaving-the-eu-6gv5cnxc3\" target=\"_blank\">written<\/a> an article for the paper supporting the amendment.<br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Supporters of David Davis plot to oust Theresa May \u2018by Christmas\u2019<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\nAn <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/news\/5083324\/david-davis-plot-remove-replace-theresa-may-pm-prime-minister\/\" target=\"_blank\">exclusive<\/a> in The Sun claims that supporters of David Davis are plotting to out Theresa May as Prime Minister. His ally Andrew Mitchell is organising drinks evenings with Davis and the new generation of Tory MPs, whilst an ally said that May will \u2018be gone by Christmas\u2019.<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><strong>Hammond causes a storm with remarks on defence, disability and Brexit<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nThe Guardian <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/politics\/2017\/dec\/07\/philip-hammond-causes-storm-with-remarks-about-disabled-workers\" target=\"_blank\">reports<\/a> that remarks made by Philip Hammond to the Treasury select committee have offended disabled groups, after he claimed that the UK\u2019s low productivity could be attributed to disabled people in the workforce. The Daily Telegraph <a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/news\/2017\/12\/06\/philip-hammond-admits-cabinet-yet-decide-wants-uks-post-brexit\/\" target=\"_blank\">reported<\/a> that the Chancellor said that Cabinet members still have not been allowed to discuss the end state of Brexit. The Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/edition\/news\/philip-hammond-questions-defence-secretary-gavin-williamson-s-grip-on-the-job-rsrck9ps2\" target=\"_blank\">adds<\/a> that Hammond told the committee he\u2019d welcome a chance to discuss the defence budget with new Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson once Williamson had got \u2018his head around the defence budget\u2019.<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><strong>Drug shortage causes patients to wait<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nThe Times also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/edition\/news\/patients-hit-by-shortage-of-drugs-as-prices-soar-tv2ps2p66\" target=\"_blank\">reports<\/a> that a shortage of drugs is causing patients with cancer and severe mental illness to go without essential medicines. The shortage has cost the NHS \u00a3180m in six months, with ministers now investigating fears that the market is being manipulated.<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><strong>Labour Lords\u2019 chief whip to stand down over expenses claims<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nSteve Bassam, Labour\u2019s chief whip in the House of Lords is to stand down in early 2018, following questions about his expenses, The Guardian <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/politics\/2017\/dec\/06\/labours-chief-whip-in-lords-to-stand-down-over-expenses-claims\" target=\"_blank\">reports<\/a>. He has offered to repay the claims in question, but insists that he has not breached parliamentary rules.<br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Gavin Williamson interviewed by the Mail<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\nDefence Secretary Gavin Williamson has claimed that British citizens who fought for Islamic State should not be allowed to return to the country in an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-5153613\/Gavin-Williamson-Brits-fighting-be.html\" target=\"_blank\">interview<\/a> with the Daily Mail.
