Logan Paul<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QwZT7T-TXT0\" width=\"760\" height=\"428\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Top American YouTuber, Logan Paul, caused outrage this week when he released a video showing a dead body at a suicide hotspot in Japan. Not only were the images of the deceased considered inappropriate (especially considering the young age of much of his audience), but concern was also raised that Logan and his friends were seen to be making jokes about the situation.<\/p>\n<p>After fellow YouTubers, celebrities and the general public denounced his behaviour, Logan removed the video and replaced it with an apology. This video\u2019s claim he was \u2018attempting to raise awareness\u2019 of suicide and mental health has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/commentisfree\/2018\/jan\/03\/logan-paul-youtube-suicide-mental-health-raise-awareness\" target=\"_blank\">called a poor excuse<\/a>, causing further problems for the star. Logan Paul hasn\u2019t posted a video since the apology two days ago, but his subscriber numbers have remained steady at over 15 million.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>2. Lewd Elf boosts sales<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-111343\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Poundland-1.jpg\" alt=\"Elf behaving badly\" width=\"760\" height=\"430\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Poundland-1.jpg 760w, https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Poundland-1-300x170.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Poundland-1-705x399.jpg 705w, https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Poundland-1-450x255.jpg 450w, https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Poundland-1-500x283.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 760px) 100vw, 760px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Poundland\u2019s now infamous \u2018Elf Behaving Badly\u2019 campaign \u2013 including an image that led Twinings to complain \u2013 boosted sales by driving \u2018significant numbers of shoppers\u2019 into stores in the week before Christmas. As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prweek.com\/article\/1453735\/poundlands-controversial-elf-boosted-christmas-sales-faces-asa-investigation\" target=\"_blank\">reported in PRWeek<\/a>, more than 200,000 \u2018bad elves\u2019 were sold, alongside over one million elf accessories \u2013 contributing to \u00a359m sales, up 20 per cent on the same period in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The ASA is investigating the campaign after receiving around 80 complaints about the Twitter posts, claiming the ads are offensive, too sexualised or unsuitable as they could be seen by children. Poundland released a statement saying the complaints: \u2018contrasted with thousands of people who said they loved our naughty elf pictures \u2013 not least because it reminded them that Britain is famous for the saucy postcard and panto\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>3. Philip Morris launched an advertising campaign with the claim, \u2018Our ambition is to stop selling cigarettes in the UK\u2019. The full advert, visible <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedrum.com\/news\/2018\/01\/02\/cigarette-maker-philip-morris-resolves-give-up-cigarettes-with-new-ads-and-website\" target=\"_blank\">here in The Drum<\/a>, explains the company is launching a campaign website to help smokers quit or adopt alternative options (like vaping); supporting local authority cessation services where smoking rates are highest; seeking government approval to insert information into packs on quitting or switching; and expanding its range of alternative products in the UK.<\/p>\n<p>The campaign is focused on the UK, though the global Philip Morris brand also believes in a \u2018smoke-free future\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>4. More information is available <a href=\"http:\/\/bmeprpros.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>ITV News at Ten evacuated (sound the alarm)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>ITV News at Ten was cut short this week when a fire alarm evacuation caused the programme to end early. While the alarm could be heard for some time before the programme was taken off air, the presenter, Tom Bradby, seemed unsure of the best course of action.
