Investigation into bullying in Parliament accuses three MPs, including John Bercow
\n<\/strong><\/span>An investigation<\/a> by BBC Newsnight<\/em> into harassment and bullying of clerks in Parliament has made accusations against three MPs. Those accused are Labour\u2019s Paul Farrelly, the Conservative Mark Pritchard, and the Speaker, John Bercow. All three deny the allegations,\u00a0but Lib Dem deputy leader Jo Swinson has called for a \u2018thorough independent investigation.\u2019<\/p>\n

May draws up \u2018full spectrum\u2019 response to Russia
\n<\/strong><\/span>In an exclusive<\/a>, The Sun <\/em>reports that Theresa May is drawing up a \u2018full spectrum\u2019 response to alleged Russian involvement in the poisoning of a former Russian spy. Measures will include expelling diplomats, cancelling visas, freezing assets, a joint international statement of condemnation, and increased military deployments in Eastern Europe.<\/p>\n

NHS staff to be offered pay rise in return for losing holiday
\n<\/strong><\/span>According<\/a> to The Guardian, <\/em>the Government is to offer NHS staff a 6.5% pay rise over the next three years, so long as they give up a day\u2019s holiday. This would be the first \u2018meaningful\u2019 pay rise since 2010, the paper claims, with unions \u2018cautiously optimistic\u2019 about the deal.<\/p>\n

The Financial Times <\/em>says<\/a> that Donald Tusk, the European Council President, has said that Ireland must be dealt with \u2018first\u2019 in talks. The Daily Telegraph <\/em>also reports<\/a> that the Government is to go ahead with its proposals for devolution after Brexit, despite failing to secure approval from the devolved administrations.<\/p>\n

Tories \u2018clamouring\u2019 for public spending increase
\n<\/strong><\/span>The Financial Times <\/em>says<\/a> that Conservative MPs are \u2018clamouring\u2019 for the Chancellor to increase public spending at the Spring Statement. The Daily Mirror <\/em>reports<\/a> that John McDonnell is to say the Conservatives are \u2018blind\u2019 to the \u2018pain and misery\u2019 of austerity.<\/p>\n

Government to publish \u2018humiliating\u2019 Universal Credit reviews
\n<\/strong><\/span>The Daily Mirror <\/em>says<\/a>\u00a0the Government confirmed yesterday that it was to give up its two-year battle to keep its \u2018humiliating\u2019 reviews of Universal Credit secret. The Government had been due to defend the non-publication of the reviews at a forthcoming tribunal.<\/p>\n

Government considers fines for motorists who pass too close to cyclists
\n<\/strong><\/span>The Times<\/em> reports<\/a> that the Government is to publish a call for evidence as part of a review of cyclist and pedestrian safety, including possible fines for drivers who pass cyclists too closely. Legal advice advocating a new offence of dangerous cycling will also be published.<\/p>\n
