The CMA has identified the practice as a major issue and has written to a number of users to find out how they are working with PRs and brands.<\/p>\n<p>We spoke to leading industry experts <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/blog\/cma-investigates-influencer-marketing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">to gauge their reaction to the announcement<\/a>, with the overwhelming response being in favour of anything that standardises practices across content creators and their collaborators.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">2. Google staff protest China plans<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-117081\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Google-China.jpg\" alt=\"Censorship\" width=\"760\" height=\"430\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Google-China.jpg 760w, https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Google-China-300x170.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Google-China-705x399.jpg 705w, https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Google-China-450x255.jpg 450w, https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Google-China-500x283.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 760px) 100vw, 760px\" \/><\/strong>Over 1,000 Google employees have signed a letter to protest the company\u2019s plans to a build a censored search engine for the Chinese market.<\/p>\n<p>As reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2018\/aug\/17\/google-staff-protest-against-plan-for-censored-chinese-search-engine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Guardian<\/a>, the letter calls for executives to review the company\u2019s ethics and transparency \u2013 the latter point referencing the secrecy of the project codenamed Dragonfly. Google staff demand to know what they are building and why.<\/p>\n<p>Google, which left China in 2010 due to censorship and \u2018state-sponsored hacks\u2019, has made only vague references to the project and claims it is \u2018not close to launching a search app in China\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>3. The platform appeared in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/blog\/five-things-alex-jones-online-tv-twitter-tories-queen-portraits-and-ed-balls\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">last week\u2019s edition<\/a> defending its decision to leave Alex Jones\u2019 account running as he hadn\u2019t broken any rules.<\/p>\n<p>Now the account has now been considered to have broken to rules against abusive behaviour but the punishment is small; Alex Jones has only been banned for one week and a majority of his tweets remain on the platform. The Independent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/life-style\/gadgets-and-tech\/news\/twitter-alex-jones-infowars-rules-break-tweets-ban-censorship-latest-a8492381.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">suggested<\/a> Twitter, which often faces criticism for its handling of abusive users, was responding in the most \u2018minimal way it possibly could\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>4. Plans being mooted include rebranding the Sunday Herald as the Herald on Sunday, and making the papers share the same editorial line and broadsheet format.<\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/uk-news\/2018\/aug\/14\/scotlands-sunday-herald-merges-staff-with-glasgow-herald\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Guardian points out<\/a>, The Sunday Herald was the only paper to back independence in the referendum, a move which saw the paper\u2019s readership double in 2014. While the magazine boasted a massive print circulation of nearly 600,000 copies back in its 2006 heyday, now it has fallen to less than 120,000.<\/p>\n<p>However, as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pressgazette.co.uk\/heat-magazine-claims-to-reach-4-3m-people-as-it-publishes-bumper-1000th-edition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Press Gazette reports<\/a>, thanks to its app, radio station, website and social platforms, the brand claims to reach 4.3m, keeping it relevant to a modern audience.<\/p>\n<p>Marking the thousandth issue, a Heat spokesperson said: \u2018Like the Queen and a cup of builder\u2019s tea, Heat is a much-loved British institution \u2013 and one that has entertained millions of loyal readers over the years and is still going strong, outperforming our competitors on a weekly basis.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Did we miss something?
