However, the Commons could use a \u2018paving vote\u2019 to set aside the convention, if it did wish to vote for May\u2019s deal, while Solicitor General Robert Buckland suggested that the Government could end the parliamentary session early and begin a new one in order to re-run the vote.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Brexiteers threaten strike over delay<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>The Sun\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/news\/brexit\/8666568\/tory-brexiteers-strike-theresa-may-brexit-delay\/?utm_campaign=Political%20Services%20Publications%202019&amp;utm_source=hs_email&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;_hsenc=p2ANqtz-9asBL5-I2Fxx8NRmP_38F3zCymsR_cn_xJskS5bsq6Sf22e_pV_K0-uGDkvxTGRrdatStP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-hs-link-id=\"0\">claims<\/a>\u00a0that as many as twenty \u2018hardline\u2019 Brexiteers have threatened to go \u2018on strike\u2019 on key votes if Theresa May agrees a year-long Brexit delay with the EU, pushing the Government to the \u2018verge of collapse\u2019. The paper has also\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/news\/brexit\/8666550\/brexit-theresa-may-deal-tory-rebels\/?utm_campaign=Political%20Services%20Publications%202019&amp;utm_source=hs_email&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;_hsenc=p2ANqtz-9asBL5-I2Fxx8NRmP_38F3zCymsR_cn_xJskS5bsq6Sf22e_pV_K0-uGDkvxTGRrdatStP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-hs-link-id=\"0\">conducted<\/a>\u00a0a survey of Conservative MPs who voted against May\u2019s deal, and two-thirds of those who responded confirmed they would not back it if it was brought back to the Commons unamended.<\/p>\n<p><strong>EU offers May \u2018helping hand\u2019<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>The Guardian\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/politics\/2019\/mar\/18\/eu-could-hand-may-lifeline-with-formal-offer-of-new-brexit-date?utm_campaign=Political%20Services%20Publications%202019&amp;utm_source=hs_email&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;_hsenc=p2ANqtz-9asBL5-I2Fxx8NRmP_38F3zCymsR_cn_xJskS5bsq6Sf22e_pV_K0-uGDkvxTGRrdatStP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-hs-link-id=\"0\">says<\/a>\u00a0that the EU is to give Theresa May \u2018a helping hand\u2019 by formally agreeing the length of the Brexit extension at its summit on Thursday and keeping this on offer until just before midnight on 29 March, when the UK is currently due to leave. Changing the date that the UK leaves the EU might be sufficient for John Bercow to allow the Government to hold another meaningful vote.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Social media firms to be forced to hand over algorithms<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>The Daily Telegraph\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/politics\/2019\/03\/18\/social-media-firms-forced-reveal-secret-data-behind-rise-self\/?utm_campaign=Political%20Services%20Publications%202019&amp;utm_source=hs_email&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;_hsenc=p2ANqtz-9asBL5-I2Fxx8NRmP_38F3zCymsR_cn_xJskS5bsq6Sf22e_pV_K0-uGDkvxTGRrdatStP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-hs-link-id=\"0\">says<\/a>\u00a0that the Government\u2019s forthcoming white paper on online harms will give a new regulator the power to force firms to hand over algorithms showing how people are targeted with content based on their personal details, which may \u2018reveal their role in fuelling self-harm and suicides\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Industrial strategy criticised by MPs<br \/>\n<\/strong>The\u00a0<em>Financial Times<\/em>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/53aad05c-498c-11e9-8b7f-d49067e0f50d?utm_campaign=Political%20Services%20Publications%202019&amp;utm_source=hs_email&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;_hsenc=p2ANqtz-9asBL5-I2Fxx8NRmP_38F3zCymsR_cn_xJskS5bsq6Sf22e_pV_K0-uGDkvxTGRrdatStP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-hs-link-id=\"0\">carries details<\/a>\u00a0of a critical report by the Commons Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee on the Government\u2019s industrial strategy. It warns that there is a risk that the strategy will fail in its efforts to improve productivity levels because it is focusing on innovative sectors but neglecting others, such as hospitality and retail, and is too focused on London and South East England.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jewish Labour Movement to hold no confidence vote in Corbyn<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>The Times\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/article\/jewish-labour-group-considers-corbyn-no-confidence-motion-bxvnw88hm?utm_campaign=Political%20Services%20Publications%202019&amp;utm_source=hs_email&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;_hsenc=p2ANqtz-9asBL5-I2Fxx8NRmP_38F3zCymsR_cn_xJskS5bsq6Sf22e_pV_K0-uGDkvxTGRrdatStP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-hs-link-id=\"0\">says<\/a>\u00a0the Jewish Labour Movement, the Jewish affiliate of the Labour Party will debate a vote of no confidence in Jeremy Corbyn at its annual meeting in April.
