{"id":12258,"date":"2012-09-26T11:43:44","date_gmt":"2012-09-26T10:43:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/?p=12258"},"modified":"2012-09-26T11:43:44","modified_gmt":"2012-09-26T11:43:44","slug":"masters-degree-at-the-guardian","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/blog\/masters-degree-at-the-guardian\/","title":{"rendered":"Masters at the Guardian"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Guardian<\/a> is set to offer a new masters degree in Journalism with Digital Media to students who wish to enroll September 2013.<\/h2>\n<p>The joint venture with Cardiff University will offer a year long programme focusing on digital and encompassing reporting, writing, publishing and technical skills.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Guardian, the course will be taught by a \u2018mix of guest lecturers and a permanent director of studies\u2019. Whilst the planning is in too early a stage to confirm the lecturers, it is likely to be a mixture of current Guardian staff and external professionals\/professors. The director of studies is yet to be appointed by Cardiff University.<\/p>\n<p>The fees for the course are, again, yet to be finalised but the course will be competitive with other London programmes; \u00a39,000 is a likely price for EU students.<\/p>\n<p>Alan Rusbridger, editor-in-chief, Guardian News &amp; Media, said: \u2018By partnering with a well-established and respected university department we can offer a masters degree that will produce a generation of students who are completely up to date with the skills needed to succeed in journalism today.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Our new masters degree in Journalism with Digital Media will be applicable to a wide range of careers, from news to website content management and social media.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The course is the first of its kind and may provide the Guardian with an intake of new staff at the end of the year.
