{"id":125493,"date":"2019-10-18T11:49:18","date_gmt":"2019-10-18T10:49:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/?p=125153"},"modified":"2019-10-18T11:49:18","modified_gmt":"2019-10-18T10:49:18","slug":"vuelio-product-update-october","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/blog\/vuelio-product-update-october\/","title":{"rendered":"Vuelio Product Update \u2013 October"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>We are constantly improving Vuelio for our clients, this month we\u2019ve used machine learning to enhance journalist profiles.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Top topics displayed on journalist profiles<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Knowing what a journalist has recently written about can help you to decide who is most likely to cover your story.<\/p>\n<p>To enable you to better select media contacts for your campaigns, we\u2019ve added the top 10 topics, names and places journalists have covered so far this year (2019) on their profiles in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/pr-software\/media-database\/\">Vuelio Media Database<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/pr-software\/online-media-monitoring\/\">online monitoring<\/a> provider, we already scan millions of articles from across the web to deliver your media coverage. We\u2019ve used this data to build a machine learning algorithm that can identify if a word\/phrase \u2013 also known as an \u2018entity\u2019 \u2013 falls into one of three categories: a name of a person or organisation, a place or a topic. This process is called \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/explore-artificial-intelligence\/introduction-to-named-entity-recognition-eda8c97c2db1\">Named Entity Extraction<\/a>\u2019. It then collates this information and counts the number of mentions for each word, which is displayed on a contact profile.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/1-topics-on-profiles.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-125154 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/1-topics-on-profiles.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"475\" height=\"651\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We will continue to use this technology to improve how you search for information in Vuelio and it will contribute to other innovations.
