This was coupled with the fact 80% of journalists use Twitter. These two figures show a growing reliance on internet tools for the modern media professional.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pressgazette.co.uk\/study-28-journalists-unable-carry-out-job-without-social-media\">Press Gazette<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedrum.com\/news\/2012\/09\/18\/only-39-journalists-believe-social-media-impacts-their-work-positively-says-social\">The Drum<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/wallblog.co.uk\/2012\/09\/19\/study-says-more-than-a-quarter-of-uk-journalists-cant-work-without-social-media-infographic\/\">The Wall<\/a> and others discuss the negative aspects social media is having on journalists including concerns over privacy, a reduction in productivity and the effect it is having on their audiences.<\/p>\n<p>Other coverage, including the <a href=\"http:\/\/mediadigest.inluk.com\/cant-report-if-reporting-is-without-twitter-say-quarter-of-journos\/\">Media Digest<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mediabistro.com\/alltwitter\/social-journalists_b28742\">Media Bistro<\/a> focus on the positive aspects social media tools have and how they are helping journalists. Media Bistro, along with <a href=\"http:\/\/sociable360.blogspot.co.uk\/2012\/09\/infographic-28-of-uk-journalists-cant.html\">Sociable360<\/a>, highlights Twitter\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.twitter.com\/2012\/09\/best-practices-for-journalists.html\">own best practises guide for journalists<\/a> and links it to our study. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/blog\/infographic-social-journalism-study-2012\/\">infographic<\/a> that accompanies the study and identifies the five different types of social media journalists (Architects, Observers, Hunters, Promoters and Sceptics) was the most common representation of the study on the internet. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thinktank.org.uk\/blog.php#blog-743\">The Think Tank<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.prmoment.com\/social-journalism-study-2012\/\">PRmoment<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.grahamjones.co.uk\/2012\/multimedia\/infographics\/journalists-and-social-media.html\">Graham Jones<\/a> all use the infographic which provides a story in itself.<\/p>\n<p>As world news, the study was picked up in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bluebus.com.br\/jornalistas-nas-redes-39-dos-profissionais-britanicos-acham-q-elas-ajudam\/\">Brazil<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.techeconomy.it\/2012\/09\/25\/social-media-in-uk-tu-che-social-giornalista-sei\/\">Italy<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/m.salingsilang.com\/baca\/infografik-28-persen-jurnalis-tidak-bisa-bekerja-tanpa-media-sosial-\">Indonesia<\/a>, the latter comparing it to a study by the Press Council of Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>Another source of international reportage was America \u2013 the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mediapost.com\/publications\/article\/183385\/uk-journos-on-social-media-meh.html\">MediaPost<\/a> running a discussion with the headline: \u2018U.K. Journos on Social Media: Meh\u2019, identifying sceptical attitudes some journalists have towards social media. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediabistro.com\/mediajobsdaily\/new-study-reveals-journalists-cant-live-without-social-media_b12291\">MediaJobsDaily<\/a> went with the idea that journalists \u2018can\u2019t live without social media\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Individual results are picked out of the study: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.corpcommsmagazine.co.uk\/news\/2659-journalists-mixed-on-social-media\">CorpComms<\/a> looks at the professional and personal split of journalists\u2019 social media use;
