{"id":135260,"date":"2021-04-28T10:00:57","date_gmt":"2021-04-28T09:00:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/?p=135260"},"modified":"2021-04-28T10:00:57","modified_gmt":"2021-04-28T09:00:57","slug":"prcas-race-and-ethnicity-equity-board-launches-mentoring-programme-prism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/blog\/prcas-race-and-ethnicity-equity-board-launches-mentoring-programme-prism\/","title":{"rendered":"PRCA\u2019s Race and Ethnicity Equity Board launches mentoring programme PRISM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>REEB, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/blog\/race-ethnicity-equity-board-launched-by-the-prca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">PRCA\u2019s Race and Ethnicity Equity Board<\/a>, has launched its PRISM mentoring programme to aid professionals of all ethnicities to succeed in PR and comms. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>PRISM, which stands for Public Relations Inclusion Support &amp; Mentoring, is supported by People Like Us and the UK Black Comms Network, and is free for PR and comms practitioners across the globe.<\/p>\n<p>PRISM\u2019s initial six-month mentoring programme includes six meetings (virtual or face-to-face, where permitting), with all mentors receiving required training before being paired with their mentees. All participants will also be required to abide by REEB\u2019s founding principles of respect, sensitivity and confidentiality.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We all need help at every stage of our careers,\u2019 said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/blog\/spotlight-on-barbara-phillips-chair-for-the-prca-race-and-ethnicity-equity-board\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">PRCA REEB chair Barbara Phillips<\/a>. \u2018Professionals who are Black and Asian need PRISM, as it acknowledges that their struggle to reach the highest echelons of our industry will be different and likely more emotionally arduous than their White counterparts. We have created a meaningful, impactful programme.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018For mentees this means more than a quick coffee squeezed in when your mentor can spare the time. And for mentors this means supporting, sponsoring and doing everything in your power to help your mentee succeed. It\u2019s for the professionals new to the industry and the senior practitioners knocking on the C-suite door, waiting for someone to finally let them in. We are expecting some really great results.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>PRCA Director-General Francis Ingham MPRCA said:<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Our industry must do more to give Black, Asian and ethnically diverse professionals the opportunity to succeed. PRISM won\u2019t create change overnight but will play an essential role in creating a fair and level-playing field for professionals from all backgrounds.
