The impact of broadcast appearances has instead been overshadowed by the Conservative gambling scandal.<\/p>\n<p>Thursday 20 June was a bruising day for the party, with the news that two Conservative candidates are being investigated by the Gambling Commission for using inside information to bet on the date of the election. Reform UK\u2019s impact on social media is<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Wokewaster\/status\/1802991643231912142\"> led<\/a> by their own proponents &#8211; going against the stereotype that its base is made up of tech-averse pensioners.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>What do the polls say?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/news\/2024\/06\/21\/readers-question-time-debate-sunak-starmer-farage-davey\/?utm_campaign=Political%20Services%20Publications&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;_hsenc=p2ANqtz-_DIKPCdJaibI2zsjaGLJFqan7RIbjdOSDJ1Bcnu-0sUSoF_yWFfENJr4CVjxKeR6-XGLLgpxf-laQN0nNfrasFSpiUpA&amp;_hsmi=312588699&amp;utm_content=312588699&amp;utm_source=hs_email\">poll<\/a> from The Telegraph showed that 69% of over 50,000 readers thought Sunak came out on top of Thursday\u2019s TV debate, with Starmer receiving only 17% of readers\u2019 votes.<\/p>\n<p>Despite this, several polls published on Thursday portended catastrophic results for the Conservatives, with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/politics\/2024\/06\/19\/rishi-sunak-to-lose-seat-tory-wipeout-major-poll-predicts\/?utm_campaign=Political%20Services%20Publications&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;_hsenc=p2ANqtz-_Y0DG16DxfbfiXPPFHB-WDS2561TMHyCguhkCtMp3vsPTqIA03dJGc6knY-9bUGnDq9U5cn-zPN-wknjAud-zOWM6dRw&amp;_hsmi=312588699&amp;utm_content=312588699&amp;utm_source=hs_email\">poll<\/a> for The Telegraph predicting they could retain just 53 seats, and Sunak could become the first sitting Prime Minister in history to lose his seat.<\/p>\n<p>One of the leading topics of conversation among Telegraph readers was the absence of Nigel Farage representing Reform at Thursday\u2019s BBC Question Time, especially as a new poll <a href=\"https:\/\/email.vuelio.com\/e3t\/Ctc\/2G+113\/c2Xct04\/VVG_Sy4j7fDnW2rmGP974MxgRW8kTzPf5gzNVXMZjDVC5nR32W5BWr2F6lZ3pxMnc_vXG_7gHW4DnGTx8Wvb35W7pPSHF9cWf5lW5dcClM8tzq8yW2j6YLt7zn_gkW4_Nj3c74FyLpW3T5B0175vntJW4rYGLV23C2wTW2X6wg88dwfT7W1XLMmQ2FJMRxW7C7KmM47zhyZVbSB_298dwCVW6NNyVv4586wmV4YRbV4M34KtW6dYPjD8fHWQCW7BDl2L1B_kBlW1rWzdh67hN0GW3QSxpR4nhD74W23Mhc01j3Bf8W5PzJ5y4sSyRCW3kRC-Z1HtjGrVk0xwK5kQB52W6cPXWw22STGyVhkczT2WJKMMW7SM6gB3Vp1GkW7zlWFR6hGbRRW6qjDSx476MYyW8h6lxZ4rJgf9VkjzMF3-wBjlW4Qw7Mb564LbDW9fhN4m93GC4dW4bS7GV5JcMD4V2c8Kc1-jJtzW8HLK-m4zst7gdxgNZP04\">suggests<\/a> that voters would prefer him to a Conservative as the leader of the opposition to a future Labour Government.
