A hotly anticipated tournament, the Masters started yesterday and will come to a conclusion this Sunday. In the build-up to the event, social media had two names on its lips: Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/products-and-services\/social-media-monitoring\/\" title=\"Cision Social Media\" target=\"_blank\">Cision Social Media<\/a> we can track how the players are mentioned in relation to the word \u2018win\u2019. In the week leading up to the tournament the mentions of the top players looked like this: \u00a0<br \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Masters-before-w-golfer-800x446.png\" alt=\"Masters on social media\" title=\"Social Media Mentions in build-up to Masters\" width=\"640\" height=\"356\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-29055\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The first day of the tournament was yesterday and conversation was still focused on Tiger Woods, who is aiming for his fifth Masters win. A lot of the conversation was drawing parallels with, and in some cases just describing, his first Master\u2019s victory in 1997. That said he has still managed to come out on top as social media\u2019s winner \u2013 despite finishing the day on a disappointing -2.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Masters-first-day-800x407.png\" alt=\"Social media mentions of First day of the Masters 2013\" title=\"First day of the Masters 2013\" width=\"640\" height=\"325\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-29056\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With the second day of the tournament just underway, the mentions have shifted and the \u2018win\u2019 focus, while still on Woods, has spread to current tournament leader Sergio Garcia. Tianlang Guan does very well within the win mentions but as he\u2019s a 14-year-old, the mentions are focused more on his age than his chances. \u00a0\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Masters-day-2-800x407.png\" alt=\"Masters Social Media Mentions, day 2\" title=\"Masters Social Media Mentions, day 2\" width=\"640\" height=\"325\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-29057\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We look forward to the Masters 2013 developing as the conversation is likely to shift again and again.
