This week we follow the news that <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/blog\/peter-capaldi-is-doctor-who\/\" title=\"Doctor Who\" target=\"_blank\">Peter Capaldi is Doctor Who<\/a><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">, with other internet phenomenon including something from our very own blog. \u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/products-and-services\/social-media-monitoring\/\" title=\"Cision Social Media\" target=\"_blank\">Cision Social Media<\/a> we can see how a fake burger, a yeast-based product and a Norwich DJ have been causing their own stir:<br \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Week-5-to-9-August-800x500.png\" alt=\"Burger, Alan Partridge, Marmite\" width=\"640\" height=\"400\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-38811\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>Alan<\/strong><\/span><br \/>Alan Partridge\u2019s latest outing is in Alpha Papa which goes on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BBCFilms\/status\/365785943342465026\" title=\"BBC Films Twitter\" target=\"_blank\">full UK release today<\/a>. It is the first time the character has been the star of a major motion picture, and the blogosphere has reacted accordingly.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"460\" height=\"259\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qRivx-wEaiE\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p><span>The hype for the film found an outlet in clips and trailers, shared across news sites and blogs alike. <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.femalefirst.co.uk\/blog\/2013\/07\/first-alan-partridge-alpha-papa-clip-18519\/\" title=\"Female First\" target=\"_blank\">Female First<\/a><span> got its post in back in July, with a \u2018first clip\u2019 teaser.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.heyuguys.co.uk\/interview-declan-lowney-alpha-papa\/\" title=\"Hey u Guys\" target=\"_blank\">HeyUGuys<\/a><span> interviewed director Declan Lowney, and talked about his previous work on Father Ted, directing Steve Coogan and what tempted him to direct Alpha Papa.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.liveforfilms.com\/2013\/08\/07\/neil-rob-gibbons-talk-about-writing-alan-partridge-alpha-papa\/\" title=\"Live For Films\" target=\"_blank\">Live for Films<\/a><span> posted a text version of an interview AskMen.com had with Alpha Papa co-writers Neil and Rob Gibbons.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><span>And, of course, there are reviews everywhere. Mostly rating the film average to good, you can read them <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/wjlondon.com\/alan-partridge-alpha-papa-review\/\" title=\"WJ London\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a><span>, <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickeringmyth.com\/2013\/08\/movie-review-alan-partridge-alpha-papa.html\" title=\"Flickering Myth\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a><span>, <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/screenjabber.com\/alan-partridge-alpha-papa-movie-review\" title=\"Screen Jabber\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a><span> and <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/film\/2013\/aug\/08\/alpha-papa-review\" title=\"The Guardian\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a><span>. Needless to say, you\u2019ll have the last laugh.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Burger<\/span><\/strong><br \/>The \u00a3215,000 hamburger that was grown in a laboratory was consumed this week at a news conference in London. The \u2018<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/science-environment-23576143\" title=\"BBC\" target=\"_blank\">more sustainable way of meeting a growing demand for meat<\/a>\u2019 was funded by Google\u2019s co-founder Sergey Brin.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedrum.com\/news\/2013\/08\/06\/one-minute-brief-challenge-test-tube-burgers\" title=\"The Drum\" target=\"_blank\">The Drum<\/a><span> teamed up with One Minute Brief to source ideas for an advert promoting the genetically grown beef burger. Examples are in the article with the best tagline surely going to: \u2018Meat. Your Maker\u2019, accompanied by a picture of a burger and a scientist.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2013\/08\/05\/google-co-founder-unveils-his-latest-moon-shot-a-test-tube-burger\/\" title=\"Tech Crunch\" target=\"_blank\">TechCrunch<\/a><span> got involved via the Sergey Brin angle. It reported: \u2018The synthetic meat could require a mere 1% of the land and 4% of the water of current livestock methods\u2019. The sustainability of the \u2018meat\u2019 is said to be one of the reason Brin got involved.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.offthepost.info\/blog\/2013\/08\/video-wayne-rooney-is-the-worlds-first-test-tube-burger\/\" title=\"Off the post\" target=\"_blank\">Off the Post<\/a><span> even managed to cover the news by posting a clip from Sky News that inadvertently suggests Wayne Rooney is the test tube burger.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>Marmite<\/strong><\/span><br \/>The Marmite controversy is, for once, not about whether you either love or hate the [really tasty] spread. Its new advertising campaign sees Marmite jars \u2018recovered\u2019 from homes where they\u2019ve been \u2018neglected\u2019. The complaints largely claim the advert \u2018<a href=\"http:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/uk\/home-news\/marmite-sparks-controversy-as-poor-taste-advert-faces-ban-for-mimicking-animal-cruelty-documentary-8750047.html\" title=\"Independent\" target=\"_blank\">trivialises animal and child cruelty<\/a>\u2019. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"460\" height=\"259\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mHjssdNNzP0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p><span>In what seems like an act of penance, Marmite\u2019s owner Unilever has donated \u00a318,000 to RSPCA. This was reported by the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/animalblog.co.uk\/2013\/08\/09\/unilever-donates-18000-to-animal-charity-after-row-over-marmite-ad\/\" title=\"Animal Blog\" target=\"_blank\">Animal Blog<\/a><span> which also said the advert had received around 400 complaints. \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.liberatemedia.com\/blog\/marmite-ad-love-it-or-hate-it-its-certainly-grabbed-the-headlines\/\" title=\"Liberate Media\" target=\"_blank\">Liberate Media<\/a><span> went with the headline: \u2018Marmite Ad \u2013 love it or hate it, it\u2019s grabbing the headlines\u2019 [thus proving its own claim]. Outlining the salient points of the story, it also reports that from a marketing point of view, the campaign is already proving a huge success.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.contactmusic.com\/article\/marmite-advert-neglect-trailer_3804001\" title=\"Contact Music\" target=\"_blank\">Contact Music<\/a><span> poses the question: \u2018Is The \u201cMarmite\u201d Advert Really Offensive, or Really Funny?\u2019 The post contains two pictures of the ad\u2019s voice-over artist Michael Buerk and discusses how offensive the advert really is.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>Cision<\/strong><\/span><br \/>Cision experienced some controversy this week when we published a guest post from Cybher event founder Si\u00e2n To titled: \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/blog\/no-mummy-bloggers-allowed-why-i-founded-cybher\/\" title=\"No Mummy Blogger Allowed\" target=\"_blank\">No mummy bloggers allowed \u2013 Why I founded Cybher<\/a>\u2019.
