While director Zack Snyder says he \u2018can\u2019t wait\u2019 to work with Affleck, the internet has, in places, been less kind.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>As any story about a Batman film will immediately trend, it was no surprise that the tweets measured by Cision Social Media look like this:<br \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Batman-graph-800x364.png\" alt=\"Batman graph on Twitter social media\" width=\"640\" height=\"291\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-40275\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The topic is quickly closing in on a million tweets as fans voice their opinions and a variety of trends pick up interest. This morning has seen \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%22Ben+Affleck+as+Batman%22\" target=\"_blank\">Ben Affleck as Batman<\/a>\u2019, \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=Daredevil\">Daredevil<\/a>\u2019, \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=Gigli\">Gigli<\/a>\u2019, \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%22Michael+Keaton%22\">Michael Keaton<\/a>\u2019, \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%22adam%20west%22&#038;mode=relevance&#038;src=typd\">Adam West<\/a>\u2019, \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%22batman%22&#038;mode=relevance&#038;src=typd\">Batman<\/a>\u2019, \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%E2%80%98%23BetterBatmanThanBenAffleck%E2%80%99&#038;mode=relevance&#038;src=typd\">#BetterBatmanThanBenAffleck<\/a>\u2019, \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=Christian%20Bale&#038;mode=relevance&#038;src=typd\">Christian Bale<\/a>\u2019, \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%22Bruce+Wayne%22\">Bruce Wayne<\/a>\u2019, \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=Man%20of%20Steel&#038;mode=relevance&#038;src=typd\">Man of Steel<\/a>\u2019, and \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=Argo&#038;mode=relevance&#038;src=typd\">Argo<\/a>\u2019, become top 10 worldwide trending topics all connected with the story.<\/p>\n<p>There are some people on Twitter who are unhappy with the casting choice:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p>I&#8217;m so angry. Bruce Wayne is Batman. Doh.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Kieron Gillen (@kierongillen) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kierongillen\/statuses\/370839889233055744\">August 23, 2013<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async=\"\" src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\" type=\"text\/javascript\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>As all big stories on Twitter do, this has scored high on news sites who are keen to capitalise on public interest and add in their own views.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/film\/filmblog\/2013\/aug\/23\/ben-affleck-batman-man-of-steel\">The Guardian\u2019s Peter Bradshaw<\/a> claims that Affleck is perfect for Batman, but as the director rather than the star.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickeringmyth.com\/2013\/08\/ben-affleck-cast-as-new-batman-in-man.html\">Flickering Myth<\/a> chose to report just the facts and give the chance of opinions to its commenters. The feeling is cautious to negative with one comment from Lee summing up the mood: \u2018I agree a little worried. However he will have a great cast round him and he normally performs well when with good quality actors, Good Will Hunting and Armageddon spring to mind. So maybe just maybe.\u2019<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/wjlondon.com\/ben-affleck-is-the-new-batman\/\">WJ London<\/a> hit almost every comment point, mentioning Daredevil, Man of Steel, Argo, Christian Bale and Matt Damon. It\u2019s a Gigli away from the complete set. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.christiantoday.com\/article\/superman.vs.batman.movie.cast.news.ben.affleck.batman.man.of.steel.2.sequel.henry.cavill\/33686.htm\">Christian Today<\/a> reported the story and included a rumour that Christian Bale as offered $50m to come back to the franchise, which hasn\u2019t been commented on by either the actor or Warner Brothers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/tto\/arts\/film\/article3850795.ece\">The Times\u2019 Tony Bonnici<\/a> compares the role of Batman to that of Hamlet for actors making their mark [Paywall]. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">A <a href=\"http:\/\/variety.com\/2013\/film\/news\/poll-ben-affleck-the-right-choice-for-batman-1200586949\/\">Variety poll<\/a> of over 60,000 people has 77% answering \u2018No\u2019 to the question: \u2018Do you think Ben Affleck is the right choice to play Batman\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>As the Batman vs Superman film draws nearer, this topic is likely to trend and top news agendas again and again.
