Transfer deadline day pits managers against each other as they attempt to buy players against the clock for the entertainment of the public (I think that\u2019s right).<\/p>\n<p>From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/sport\/football\/transfer-news\/gareth-bale-transfer-relief-world-record-2252045\" title=\"Bale\" target=\"_blank\">world-record breaking sales<\/a> to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/sport\/0\/football\/23938801\" title=\"Fellaini\" target=\"_blank\">last minute deals<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%23TransferDeadlineDay%20&#038;src=typd&#038;mode=realtime\" title=\"hashtag\" target=\"_blank\">#TransferDeadlineDay<\/a> looked like this on social media:<br \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/WOW-Transfer-800x337.png\" alt=\"Social Media Analysis\" width=\"640\" height=\"269\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-41896\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Gareth Bale\u2019s world record move to Real Madrid was one of the most discussed transfers with his \u00a3300,000 a week salary spawning several <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/sport\/football\/news\/fleet-street-fox-gareth-bales-2245724\" title=\"Fleet Street Fox\" target=\"_blank\">suggestions of how he should spend it<\/a>. If you would like to see Bale\u2019s earnings in real time, check out <a href=\"http:\/\/whatbaleearns.co.uk\/\" title=\"What Bale Earns\" target=\"_blank\">What Bale Earns<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Manchester United blog <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thereddevil.co.uk\/2013\/09\/03\/so-fellaini-then\/\" title=\"The Red Devil\" target=\"_blank\">The Red Devil<\/a>, seems pleased with Fellaini signing, if not the way it went about. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.footymad.net\/football-news\/fellaini_will_flourish_at_united_warns_moyes_6393828\/index.shtml\" title=\"FootyMad\" target=\"_blank\">Footymad<\/a> also highlights issues with the signing process but quotes David Moyes who believes Fellaini will be a massive success at Manchester United.<\/p>\n<p>The most expensive player to join the Premier League was Mesut \u00d6zil, from Real Madrid to Arsenal. Reports that he almost signed for Manchester United have been called false by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.caughtoffside.com\/2013\/09\/06\/new-arsenal-star-mesut-ozil-never-considered-joining-manchester-united\/\" title=\"CaughtOffside\" target=\"_blank\">CaughtOffside<\/a>, while <a href=\"http:\/\/justarsenal.com\/just-what-makes-arsenal-so-special-class-in-the-dna\/26734\" title=\"Just Arsenal\" target=\"_blank\">Just Arsenal<\/a> believes the big name signing will be a boost to the club.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, Transfer Deadline Day is really about ridiculous tweets that don\u2019t have any relation to any players:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p>.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ManUtd\">@ManUtd<\/a>&#8216;s actually going to sign someone!? \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/wikileaks\">@wikileaks<\/a>: Stand by for a significant announcement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Rob Vember (@Rob_Vember) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Rob_Vember\/statuses\/374620636674809856\">September 2, 2013<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async=\"\" src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\" type=\"text\/javascript\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The other topics of the week can thankfully all fit on one graph, without Transfer Deadline Day distorting the image:<br \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/WOW-robocop-800x433.png\" alt=\"social media analysis robocop\" width=\"640\" height=\"346\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-41897\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Houses of Parliament<\/span><\/strong><br \/>A freedom of information request from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.co.uk\/2013\/09\/03\/parliament-porn-websites_n_3859837.html\" title=\"Huffington post\" target=\"_blank\">Huffington Post UK<\/a> revealed that more than 300,000 attempts to access pornographic websites were made from Houses of Parliament in the past year. Twitter users thought this was hilarious with multiple jokes making the rounds (that couldn\u2019t possibly be repeated on Cision\u2019s family friendly blog). \u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pcr-online.biz\/news\/read\/mps-and-their-staff-repeatedly-try-to-access-porn-sites-while-on-the-job\/031809\" title=\"PR Retail\" target=\"_blank\">PC Retail<\/a> covered the story saying the government\u2019s excuse that: \u2018These figures did not prove the user actually intended to visit any pornographic website\u2019, was something you might expect to hear from \u2018a teenage son\u2019. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/news\/uk-news\/mps-peers-parliamentary-staff-try-2248519\" title=\"Houses of Parliament Porn\" target=\"_blank\">The Mirror<\/a> was more explicit about which sites were visited, claiming \u2018Out of Town Affairs\u2019 had 52,000 hits in seven months.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>Social media customer service<\/strong><\/span><br \/>British Airways came under fire this week from an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/blog\/angry-ba-passenger-buys-promoted-tweets-to-complain\/\" title=\"Cision story\" target=\"_blank\">angry passenger who paid for promoted tweets<\/a> expressing his complaints. Forking out $1000 for the process, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/HVSVN\" title=\"HVSVN on Twitter\" target=\"_blank\">@HVSVN<\/a> has been the centre of all customer-service-on-Twitter related conversation this week. Cision covered the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/tag\/british-airways\/\" title=\"Cision British Airways\" target=\"_blank\">story twice<\/a>; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.freshegg.com\/blog\/man-complains-british-airways-promoted-tweet-facebook-proposes-update-data-policy-topsy-indexes-tweets-social-media-news_18280\" title=\"Fresh Egg\" target=\"_blank\">Fresh Egg<\/a> points out that as he got his luggage back it was a successful campaign; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.digitalspy.co.uk\/odd\/news\/a512352\/man-pays-for-promoted-tweet-to-complain-against-british-airways.html?rss\" title=\"Digital Spy\" target=\"_blank\">Digital Spy<\/a> provides British Airways\u2019 comments; and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/commentisfree\/2013\/sep\/04\/humiliate-global-brands-british-airways\" title=\"Guardian\" target=\"_blank\">the Guardian<\/a> took the opportunity to round up other anti-brand social media stories.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>RoboCop<\/strong><\/span><br \/>And finally, trending today, the RoboCop trailer has caused <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/denofgeek\/status\/375867768135880704\">positive<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/HolyMoly\/status\/375926775840124928\">negative<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/stuheritage\/status\/375922733353558016\">irreverent<\/a> comments.
