Reem Kanj<\/a> is the founder of top fashion blog<\/span> Five Five Fabulous<\/a>. Based in London, she runs the blog with her sister<\/span> Natalya<\/a> who lives in Dubai. Reem spoke to Cision about changes to the blog, collaborating with brands and Rihanna\u2019s 777 tour. <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

How has Five Five Fabulous changed since it started?<\/b><\/span>
When we launched we were just a news and press release blog. Last summer I was getting bored of my own stuff so I wanted to do something a little different.<\/p>\n

My sister had just started collaborating with me on the blog and we featured some images from a photo shoot that we had styled and shot together. That became one of our most popular posts for about two months. People seemed to like who we were, what we were wearing and being able to put a face to the blog. So from September 2012, Five Five Fabulous became a hub for our personal experiences \u2013 what we\u2019re wearing, eating, places we\u2019re travelling to and things like that.<\/p>\n

Initially I was very nervous because I thought no one would come to the blog if we weren\u2019t posting about celebrities or news, but it actually ended up working even better because our audience wanted to see what we were doing. We now get, on average, 20,000 unique visitors per month.<\/p>\n

How does Natalya\u2019s content differ from your own?<\/b><\/span>
She has a completely different sense of style because she\u2019s living in a country where the weather is 100% different. She is also doing different things in terms of where she\u2019s eating and where she travels to, so she can feed that side into the blog. I\u2019m layering more trends, going to LFW and things like that. <\/p>\n

There is a difference but I think our readers are more interested in the fact we\u2019re living apart and they want to know how it\u2019s working for us. We do a weekly diary gallery for Grazia UK<\/a> to show them what the sisters have been up to from both sides of the world.<\/p>\n

What will be big at this season\u2019s Fashion Weeks?<\/b><\/span>
We\u2019re thinking a lot of neon and midi skirts are going to come out in Autumn\/Winter, and we\u2019re also going to carry on seeing the crop top trend. We\u2019re excited to see what happens because we\u2019ve already started saving up for the new trends and it\u2019ll be interesting to see what we\u2019ll be buying.<\/p>\n

What does coming fifth in Cision\u2019s Top 20 UK Fashion Blogs mean to you?<\/span>
<\/b>It\u2019s great to be recognised! It\u2019s a very tough industry and being a fulltime blogger is very unstable \u2013 you have your up and down days. Sometimes you can work your bum off doing a whole feature and when it isn\u2019t the most popular one, it gets you down a little. So to be noticed in Cision\u2019s ranking is just remarkable.<\/p>\n

How does the new style of blogging work with brands?<\/span>
<\/b>We do about one big collaboration per month. At the moment we\u2019re working with Juicy Couture<\/a> on its fall campaign \u2013 we hosted an event in London and now we\u2019re going to be hosting one in Dubai.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve been doing this new way of blogging for about a year now and one of the most frustrating things is PRs still emailing us about posting news. Clearly they haven\u2019t been on the blog for over a year because we haven\u2019t been blogging news since September. You always have to remain professional though, so I will reply and explain that we don\u2019t do news anymore and would they like to spin the story out or turn it into a collaboration.<\/p>\n

Apart from that, PRs and Five Five Fabulous have a great relationship. Probably one of the most important aspects of running a successful blog is maintaining a professional relationship with PRs, so if I was to give anyone advice it would be to work on that.<\/p>\n

What was the Rihanna 777 tour like?<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>
<\/span>It was probably the most fun I have ever had (or will ever have) running a blog. It was insane. When I try and think about it, it was all one big blur \u2013 I hardly got any sleep.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What item of clothing could you not live without?
<\/span><\/strong>A leather jacket. I have one from Karen Millen which I love. It\u2019s the perfect staple for any season.<\/span><\/p>\n

Are there any up and coming designers you\u2019d recommend?<\/span><\/strong>
There\u2019s a designer from the UAE called Madiyah Al Sharqi \u2013 she\u2019s fantastic. I wore one of her pieces at Paris Fashion Week last season and I think it\u2019s one of the most popular things I\u2019ve ever worn.<\/span><\/p>\n

Who is your style icon?<\/span>\u00a0
<\/span><\/strong>I love Miroslava Duma and other ladies that know how to dress elegantly, on trend and aren\u2019t too unapproachable.<\/p>\n

<\/span>What would your super power be?\u00a0
<\/strong>I guess to read minds. You wouldn\u2019t have to second guess yourself and you would always know what an answer would be so you wouldn\u2019t have to ask a stupid question.<\/span>

<\/b>Who would play you in a film? <\/b>\u00a0
<\/span>I would love it if Scarlett Johansson could play me in a film. I have favourite male actors, not favourite female actors. If it was a man it would be Mark Wahlberg \u2013 I love him \u2013 or Leonardo DiCaprio, my childhood love.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
