Maybe. \u00a0I find it more surprising that there is such a strong UK contingent &#8211; despite <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sysomos.com\/insidetwitter\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the UK being home to the second largest Twitter population<\/a>, it&#8217;s still a fraction of the size of the US user-base. While obviously the event is &#8211; quintessentially &#8211; British, I haven&#8217;t had the sense that the populace are <a href=\"http:\/\/glasgow-effect.tumblr.com\/post\/4871123969\/vast-numbers-of-people-couldnt-give-the-tiniest\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">breaking out the bunting en masse<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Dig into these tweets and it gets stranger (to me), as the most visible cynics also seem to come from across the pond. It&#8217;s in the US that hashtags such as #whatsthepoint, #pleaseshutup and #onlywhitepeoplecareabout account for substantial volumes of wedding-related tweets; key terms emerging from UK coverage are uniformly optimistic, or at worst neutral.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Is the UK really united behind monarchy? Are we saving our much-vaunted national sense of cynicism for the big day? Or are we so easily bribed with an extra day off?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Other than Slim-Fast, America, if Twitter is to be believed. Unsurprising?
