All week the media has been in a Doctor Who frenzy, epitomised by the<\/span> <a title=\"Google doodle game\" href=\"https:\/\/www.google.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Doctor Who Google Doodle game<\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\">.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Using Vuelio\u00a0<a title=\"Cision Social Media\" href=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/products-and-services\/social-media-monitoring\/\" target=\"_blank\">Social Media<\/a> we can see how this conversation has been developing over the last couple of weeks with key moments causing spikes in the conversation.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-49447\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Dr-Graph-800x277.png\" alt=\"Doctor Who on social media\" width=\"640\" height=\"221\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The official trailer for The Day of Doctor kicked off a fortnight of excitement, with \u2018The Night of the Doctor\u2019 special leading perfectly into the Children in Need teaser clip the next day.<\/p>\n<p>With a 75-minute special being broadcast tomorrow evening and also being shown in 3D at a number of cinemas, the UK Twittersphere might just explode come Saturday evening as all eyes turn to what the Guardian has dubbed, in one of its <a title=\"Guardian Doctor Who articles\" href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/tv-and-radio\/doctor-who\" target=\"_blank\">824 Doctor Who articles<\/a>, \u2018the TV event of the year\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>It seems everyone is trying to get in on the act, though one of my favourite attempts comes from Greggs:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" lang=\"en\"><p>BRILLIANT MOVE GREGGS <a href=\"http:\/\/t.co\/fL94ONthGM\">pic.twitter.com\/fL94ONthGM<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Scott Bryan (@scottygb) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/scottygb\/statuses\/403850136679235586\">November 22, 2013<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async=\"\" src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\" type=\"text\/javascript\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Social media can also reveal the most popular actor to play the Doctor, reflecting, to some degree, the real-world poll conducted by the <a title=\"Radio Times\" href=\"http:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/news\/2013-11-15\/doctor-who-50th-anniversary-david-tennant-and-billie-piper-named-best-doctor-and-companion\" target=\"_blank\">Radio Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-49448\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Most-popular-Doctor-800x429.png\" alt=\"Twitter favourite doctor\" width=\"640\" height=\"343\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Tennant and Smith lead the charge but unlike the Radio Times poll, it is McGann in the third spot. This is largely thanks to his appearance in \u2018The Night of the Doctor\u2019 when fans finally got to see his regeneration.<\/p>\n<p>Though little is known about the plot details of The Day of the Doctor, whatever happens is likely to create a huge social media buzz and lots of subsequent media coverage.
