{"id":64982,"date":"2014-05-14T12:38:06","date_gmt":"2014-05-14T11:38:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/?p=64982"},"modified":"2014-05-14T12:38:06","modified_gmt":"2014-05-14T12:38:06","slug":"google-ruling-right-to-be-forgotten-will-make-pr-easier","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/blog\/google-ruling-right-to-be-forgotten-will-make-pr-easier\/","title":{"rendered":"Google ruling: &#8216;Right to be forgotten&#8217; will make PR easier"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Online Reputation Management could get a whole lot easier for PR and communications professionals after a landmark ruling by European Courts on Tuesday has given individuals the right to control personal data on search engines.<\/p>\n<p>The European Commission is considering a formal \u2018right to be forgotten\u2019 law following the court battle which granted a complainant the right to delete some personal data from Google.<\/p>\n<p>The European Court of Justice court ruled that individuals should be able to request \u2018irrelevant or incorrect\u2019 personal information to be taken down from search engines.<\/p>\n<p>The case has sparked a debate on online censorship and privacy laws across mainstream and social media.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Social media\" href=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/products-and-services\/social-media-monitoring\/\" target=\"_blank\">A Cision social media analysis<\/a> found that the case has been a hot topic of discussion with over 2 million online mentions in less than 24-hours.
