Speedy spotlight with Vivian\u00a0Yuen<\/a>, author of the style and beauty blog, Live.In.Love<\/a>. Vivien spoke to us about the overcrowding that exists in the blogosphere, working with\u00a0brand marketers and the biggest ‘no-nos’ for PRs.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Why should people read your blog? What makes it different?<\/strong>\u00a0I believe\u00a0the content and most importantly for me, the genuine content\u00a0of my blog is what\u00a0makes it different. There are blogs and websites on every topic you could possibly\u00a0think of that it’s getting increasingly harder to\u00a0differentiate! Especially if we all blog about the latest fad, or in trend product in public domain. But I try\u00a0to blog and post content that I take a genuine interest in and one that reveals more about me and my personality.<\/span><\/p>\n

How do you measure the success of your website?\u00a0<\/strong>I measure success\u00a0through positive\u00a0feedback and through the encouraging comments and emails I get. It’s really motivating to know and hear from people that enjoy what you post.<\/p>\n

What’s your favourite blog and why?<\/strong>\u00a0I follow and read several blogs religiously, these include Aimee Song<\/a>,\u00a0Kryz<\/a> and Kavita<\/a>\u00a0to name but a few!<\/p>\n

What advice would you give to someone who wants to start a blog?\u00a0<\/strong>Have fun with it! Post and write content about things that you love or have a passion for because that way it will come naturally and easily!<\/p>\n

How do you work with marketers and PRs?<\/strong>\u00a0I’ll be asked to check out a website or a store and to contact them if what they offer appeals to me, subsequently publishing a post on what I think and my favourite aspects\/items.<\/p>\n

Who do you work with in brand marketing? PRs? SEOs? Anyone else?\u00a0<\/strong>I work mainly with individuals or teams from PR departments and love the networking opportunities that come from our communications, but am open to hearing from anyone!<\/p>\n

What can marketers do better in working with you?<\/strong>\u00a0One of the biggest no-nos is not including my name in an email or addressing me by my blog name. An obvious blanket email that my eyes will just glaze over. I love seeing personalised and tailored email in my inbox from marketers that have actually visited my blog and have read my posts.<\/p>\n

What was your blogging highlight of 2013?<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0I’ve had so many opportunities to meet people who love blogging, love photography, writing and posting on the web, and it makes it feel like a really inclusive and comfortable community. The networks and connections you make as a result of similar interests, is for me, the highlight of blogging<\/p>\n

\u00a0What will be big in your blogosphere in the coming months?\u00a0<\/strong>I’m off to Asia in less than two months so expect to see many updates from the other side of the world!<\/span><\/p>\n
