What did you learn from it?<\/strong> I\u2019m currently working with Bramley Apples and they\u2019ve been brilliant in devising a campaign with a group of bloggers that spreads our stories and recipe developments over a whole year which means that we\u2019re not all shouting in the same space.\u00a0 I love it when brands think about the campaign and how it works for us as well as the brand.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How do you use social media to promote\/share content?<\/strong> <strong>What are the challenges?<\/strong> I have an automatic link from my blog post to Facebook and Twitter but then I also create use Instagram.\u00a0 I try and keep them light and personal and not bombard social media with my posts, so one a day is enough.\u00a0 There are so many channels to choose from.\u00a0 I stick to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and only use those.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What advice would you give to a someone who wants to start a blog?<\/strong> Do it for YOU, not for the glory or the free goodies.\u00a0 You have to have a passion for what you\u2019re writing about so this comes across in what you do.\u00a0 Most importantly you should become part of the blogging community.\u00a0 It\u2019s a great community out there, generous and fun but you have to put in the graft and comment on people\u2019s blogs and show interest and then they will come to you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How do you work with PRs?<\/strong> Tentatively. I have a few rules.\u00a0 If I get a generic email or press release for a product I delete it without looking at it.\u00a0 If the approach is personal and it\u2019s clear that the PR has clearly done their research into my blog then I always respond.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Do you feel bloggers need to be compensated for the work they do? <\/strong>Not all the work.\u00a0 If I love a product or have a good relationship with the brand or the PR and they\u2019d like me to use or trial the product then I will work with them in return for product but I expect them to do some social media pushing too!\u00a0 If I\u2019m developing recipes then I expect to be paid and will work with the client\u2019s budget on what I am prepared to deliver.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What do you feel about sponsorship disclosure?<\/strong> I always disclose that I\u2019m working with a brand but I do this as part of the blog post.\u00a0 I think my readers are quite wise and know if I\u2019m being given product.\u00a0 If I\u2019m working for a brand I include this in the way I write the blog.\u00a0 I don\u2019t need a final line at the end of the post, this is crude.<\/p>\n<p><strong>List three best practices PRs need to follow for better blogger outreach?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Research the blogger you\u2019re reaching out to.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t send generic emails where you\u2019ve changed the name<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t ever tell us you have no budget for bloggers.\u00a0 You have been given a budget by your client and you\u2019ve chosen not to put money against bloggers.\u00a0 This needs to change.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What will be big in your blogosphere in the coming months?<\/strong> As with question one\u2026 stews, slow-cooking and roasts!\u00a0 Plus of course it\u2019s Halloween and then Christmas\u2026 a busy time of the year!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dominic Franks, author of leading\u00a0food and recipe blog,\u00a0Belleau Kitchen spoke to us about working with brands, the three PR best\u00a0practices\u00a0for better outreach, sponsorship disclosure and more.\u00a0 What&#8217;s new on Belleau Kitchen?
