Our first post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/blog\/adidas-vs-nike-in-social-media-battle\/\">examined public awareness before the games<\/a>; a second <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/blog\/adidas-v-nike-in-social-media-battle-2\/\">asked if being an official sponsor really pays off<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>With the dust settling on east London the social media volumes over the last two weeks suggest that Olympic sponsorship has not afforded adidas a significant advantage.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-8719\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/nikevsadidasmentions.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"498\" height=\"253\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Two weeks ago adidas was at least featured in a greater number of influential tweets if we can judge by the total number of followers reached, but now the\u00a0Twitter followers to mentions is back in proportion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8720\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/nikevsadidasfollowers3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"498\" height=\"253\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">However, according to a number of studies adidas was a clear winner among other official sponsors. For example <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marketingweek.co.uk\/news\/adidas-takes-sponsors-gold\/4003242.article\">MarketingWeek said<\/a> that &#8220;the positive association of being kit maker for the record-breaking Team GB and the high-profile <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marketingweek.co.uk\/news\/team-gb-cover-queen-for-adidas\/4003225.article\">\u201cTake The Stage\u201d<\/a> campaign saw Adidas\u2019 brand sentiment increase markedly during the Games\u2019 fortnight the Games took place&#8221;. MarketingWeek also states that adidas has &#8220;outpaced rival Nike&#8221; based on statistics from YouGov\u2019s BrandIndex Buzz score &#8211; but it&#8217;s not just our data that challenges that claim.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Just today <a href=\"http:\/\/econsultancy.com\/uk\/blog\/10539-nike-beats-adidas-in-social-buzz-during-olympics?utm_medium=feeds&#038;utm_source=blog\">Econsultancy presented<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.socialbakers.com\/\">Socialbaker<\/a> data analysing tweets mentioning\u00a0adidas and Nike, each in conjunction with Olympics, and Nike came out on top. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hitwise.com\/uk\/\">Experian Hitwise<\/a> data shows that Nike&#8217;s Facebook followers grew by 6% whereas adidas&#8217;s only grew by 2%, although during the course of the games adidas did gain as their webtraffic went up 44% and Nike&#8217;s 10%.<\/p>\n<p>Also note that &#8216;Olympics&#8217; is among the most frequently occuring words in Nike&#8217;s social media in the last two weeks&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8781\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Nikeconvo.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"418\" height=\"342\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;but for adidas it is not.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8782\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/adidasconvo.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"418\" height=\"342\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<em><\/em><em><\/em><em><a title=\"Cision Social Media\" href=\"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/products-and-services\/social-media-monitoring\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cision Social Media<\/a> was used to conduct the analysis.
