In this spotlight\u00a0John chats to us about why he doesn’t\u00a0measure the success of his blog by how many brands want to work with him, the importance of being authentic, building relationships with PRs, and what it means to him to be listed on our latest men’s lifestyle ranking<\/a>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

What\u2019s new on THE EVERYDAY MAN?<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>I have been traveling a lot lately and have so much content to share.\u00a0 I\u2019m trying to shoot more of my own photography too, so you will be seeing more of me in the coming weeks and months!<\/p>\n

How do you measure the success of your website?<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>I don\u2019t get too carried away but I look at the types of brands who want to work with me as a measure of my success.\u00a0 It still amazes me that a lot of the brands that I love want to do collaborations with me, it is quite humbling!<\/p>\n

What advice would you give to someone who wants to start a blog?<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>Try to be a bit different and put your own stamp on stuff.\u00a0 It\u2019s important that your views and voice are authentic and that people can relate to you.\u00a0 Too many sites are all very generic so try to do something a little differently.<\/p>\n

How do you work with marketers and PRs?<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>In a variety of ways but generally they pitch ideas for projects directly to me and we see if they will be a good fit for The Everyday Man, and if not how we can maybe adapt things to make them work.<\/p>\n

How do you use social media to promote and share content? What are the challenges?\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>I should maybe be a little more structured but I tend to be quite organic with it as it stands, I try to be engaging and to interact as much as possible with the blog readers and brands on social.\u00a0 Sometimes it can be a bit of a challenge to manage it all.<\/p>\n

What can PRs do in working better with you?\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>Be relevant and realise that not everything works for every site. I understand that they want as much exposure as possible but sometimes the personal touch is a little better.<\/p>\n

What has been your blogging highlight?<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>Meeting such amazingly creative people and getting to travel are my highlights.\u00a0 I love that I get to do this on a weekly and daily basis.<\/p>\n

What will be big in your blogosphere in the coming months<\/span>?\u00a0<\/strong>I\u2019m trying to be a little more creative in terms of my content and to pitch directly to brands instead of vice versa.\u00a0 I hope to start working with other bloggers and creatives more directly on mini-projects too.<\/p>\n

What has the Vuelio blog ranking meant to you?<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>It\u2019s been great on many levels.\u00a0 Firstly it is nice to be recognised but most importantly it has been great in introducing my blog to many new brands and PR\u2019s.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
