Solidarity!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Top French news publishers have put their commercial and political differences to one side and <u><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pressgazette.co.uk\/top-french-newspapers-unite-to-stop-ad-blocker-users-from-reading-online-stories\/\">joined forces<\/a><\/u>\u00a0to combat the growing threat to the industry posed by ad-blockers.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The movement, led by the online services trade body is believed to include 80% of the nation\u2019s top 40 news publishers.<\/p>\n<p>Major national titles, including Le Monde, Le Figaro, La Parisien and L\u2019Equipe are all now actively blocking users who engaged ad-blocking technology from accessing their content and encouraging them to remove the software.<\/p>\n<p>Bertrand Gi\u00e9, head of new media at Le Figaro, told journalists at <u><a href=\"http:\/\/digiday.com\/publishers\/french-news-publishers-unite-ad-blocking\/\">Digiday<\/a><\/u>: \u201cIt\u2019s important to do it collectively. If a reader goes on to Le Figaro and sees the message, then later on in the day they see the same one on Le Monde, and then somewhere else at the end of the day, then the message is getting inside the brain of the reader. We are all competitors, but we\u2019re not afraid to lose those readers because we\u2019re all in the same position.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Content is blocked by gradually blurring out the text.<\/p>\n<p>Gi\u00e9 said: \u201cIt\u2019s like a glass of vodka,\u201d said Gi\u00e9. \u201cAfter the first one, you can read fine; the second one is a bit blurry.
