{"id":98620,"date":"2017-01-12T14:12:49","date_gmt":"2017-01-12T14:12:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/?p=98620"},"modified":"2017-01-12T14:12:49","modified_gmt":"2017-01-12T14:12:49","slug":"rock-n-roll-magazines-will-never-die","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vuelio.com\/uk\/blog\/rock-n-roll-magazines-will-never-die\/","title":{"rendered":"Rock \u2018n\u2019 Roll magazines will never die"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><strong>Future Publishing has secured the future of hard rock and heavy metal magazines Metal Hammer, Classic Rock and Prog Magazine following the collapse of their publisher TeamRock days before Christmas.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Future has paid \u00a3800,000 for the magazine titles, associated websites, events (including The Golden Gods Awards and The Classic Rock Awards) and the TeamRock online radio station.<\/p>\n<p>Future Publishing \u00a0is no stranger to the hard rock brands as the magazines were once part of the publisher\u2019s stable of music titles before <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/media\/2013\/apr\/02\/ex-gmg-radio-chief-buys-future-publishing-titles\" target=\"_blank\"><u>being sold<\/u><\/a>\u00a0to TeamRock, headed up by former GMG GMG Radio chief executive John Myers, in 2013 as part of a \u00a310.2 million deal.<\/p>\n<p>At the time, Future Publishing\u2019s former chief executive Mark Wood told journalists: &#8220;Classic Rock and Metal Hammer are highly successful and well-managed parts of Future, but they have not been centre stage in our current growth strategy.<\/p>\n<p>Clearly a lot has changed at Future and their new chief executive, Zillah Byng-Thorne, isn\u2019t afraid to \u201crock out\u201d a little.<\/p>\n<p>Byng-Thorne told journalists: \u201cThe acquisition of these classic rock brands with their associated magazines, events and websites marks a further step in our buy and build strategy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She continued: \u201c\u201cIt further reinforces our creation of a leading global specialist media platform with data at its heart, which we are monetising through diversified revenue streams.
